I had read about this series and was intrigued. I had no idea it was a YA novel.. I’m not 💯sure it was supposed to be that said I have no clue what passes for toug adult appropriate fiction .., but let’s go

The Good… The Bad …and the Spooky 

The good

Aubrey Parsons is quiet good

I love this friendship and how it travels an awkward road  full of all the speed bumps as they hurdle to the cusp of adult hood

Rose is a Cool villain with a somewhat relatable rage but…:

I have to be honest after the showdown I wasn’t negative about this book, but it kind of took a little bit away such a bombastic showdown. I guess you could call the F word final few pages I did not expect any of that!

Bravo!!!

The bad 

It sort seamed like we were missing a section.. it went from kids on bikes to a marvel movie  over the. The. O course of a chapter 

…. We only really only get her at full force at the end of the book. Because of this she comes off as one note and because of this her  feminist anger is super justified but her greedy origin and the lack of depth make her seem like a angry      

Bitch and her rage is villain stuff and not justified 

  I wish the supernatural showdown was less comic book superhero

 

The spooky 

One of the most frustrating things about being young is people not taking you seriously. It’s oppressively confounding you know what you know you know what you saw you know what you didn’t do, but there is a barrier that creates all of your credibility created just by the difference of age and the sensibilities of different generations.

The bullies that is real life, Farah boys are just at the edge of over-the-top enough to be some sort of weird frightening, hyper real 

Lily zombie is scary 

 Oh man child abuse is awful  

Holy shit the end. That’s was a left turn

The Death Rattle

This book mixes real life horror and folk horror. Honestly the dark real life is handled better then the supernatural. The fantasy scary stuff is rushed and the mythology is giving in a giant exposition dump BUUUUT I did love the characters in the little dark world.
