I reckon sometimes a movie is just not for you, And judging a book by the cover side, sometimes you can just tell you’re not gonna be into something from the trailer.
Buuuut Sundays you’re having an absolutely brutal day and you’re amazing special lady friend thinks this would be a good thing to wind down to… So let’s go

The Good… The Bad …and the Spooky
The good
This opening looks like what a big budget “wicker man” may look like I wonder….. ok forget is said that
The opening credit sequence of this feel like a 89’s Ablin movie showing the lush Rockwellian, beauty of the suburbs
The leads are great. This may be the only SB flick Ive seen all the way through. The new ones of her performance during the interrogation scene is so simple, but really great. I was surprised.
SP. Tearing up the floor, boards looking for the beetle is so tragically relatable. The fact when they pull up, the whole floor is destroyed, is very powerful, and very Tim Burton.
Aidan Quinn plays a great classic detective that goes from in charge to fish out of water sometimes in the same scene
Great bad guy. Sinister and charismatic
This movie is super quotable. it must just be in a blind spot for my generation, to not have latched onto it
The resurrection, ritual scene sums up every thing that’s good about this movie a little bit of light a little bit of darkness
The family dynamic in this is oppressively charming the interaction of the aunts the sisters, the two young girls it’s great
You know, now that I think of it this reminds me of one of my favorite shows the Gilmore girls
Child actors are tough, but both these little girls are very good. What did ever happened to that little lady that played Kylie Owens?
Diane west in Stockard Channing are a absolute delight
The bad
It all gets a little muddled in the last reel becuse…..
….. I I feel like they ran out of movie before They ran out of story. everything accelerated really fast, and because of that there was some leaps in character that were sort of jarring
The spooky
Something about the family curse really hit me so tragic
The beetle all of it
The kidnapping/attempted Assault scean was way darker then any thing I thought I would see in this movie
I hate hate, hate, hate hate, hate, hate, hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate HATE…. HAAAAAAAATE The Pop music in this It’s like a Lilith fair, Threw up all over it. I feel like this movie would’ve been even better with a little psychedelic furs the cure, the lightning seeds, Tori, Amos, the primitives Divinyls stuff like that. As it is, there is just a bunch of songs that make certain scenes feel like a Mentos commercial.
The scean were a posted Nicole Kidman licked the face of
Sandra Bullock was ummmm spooke…. No really it was a very great subtle prefomence …. For real!!! Guuuys (I am but only a man)

The Death Rattle
I really like this. If I had to assign a Word to it, I would say Charming it’s got just enough darkness in just enough light. It really blends Two movie versions of which is very well (speaking of the more realistic Wiccan version and the super powered hocus-pocus version; I don’t think cinema has come close to Portraying What witchcraft really is I think the gardening and use of the elements is closer but it still doesn’t feel like it’s nailing it. If I’m being honest, I don’t really know enough about the subject to speak on it it’s just a feeling I have, but I digress )

I think if your horror fan. This is a nice diversion. Perfect Halloween date night movie.
I was having a horrible day when Lisa, my girlfriend came over and suggested watching this. I’m very grateful for her and very grateful that I watched this. I never would’ve watched it unless she put it on and I think that’s the great part of relationships you learn things from each other.
