The Evil Streaks Live At Faces

Who Made It:
“ If you dipped, The Cramps, into a pot of The Sonics and added a pinch of sweetness of the Go-Gos, you'd get The Evil Streaks. They combine the trashy garage sound of the ‘60s with the dark punkabilly sound of the Cramps. Dressed only in black and white, unleash a unique brand of creepy-yet-rockin’ sound that is sure to leave you begging for more.” - Their bio
Who’s it it: The Evil Streaks
Myra K-Rock
John Kozik
The Rev
Too Fast Jim
Mr. Justin Goodrich
What’s it about: after not playing since the onset of the global pandemic The Evil Streaks Returned for A set of Fuzzy spooky surf tinged Garage punk!

The Good… The Bad…. The Spooky
The Good: if you had no idea that the band had been on the shelf for a bit they gave you no redone to think so! The quintet sounded as if were in the sweet spot of a multi show residency. They were so in the pocket it was almost supernatural ! They tore through every song I wanted to hear and they killed it!
The club “faces” is great! Definitely check it out if you get the opportunity! The staff was great and the sound was A++
On top of all that there was delicious cup cakes!
The Bad:
The bad????! There was no bad it’s the goddamn Evil streaks!!! Justin was having some technical, but even that was the turn led into an endearing moment of Banter!
Favorite scare: early in the Set Bass player the Rev rocked out so hard he almost knocked over a buncha stuff!
💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
Favorite kill:
An Unfortunate ex-lover brutally eliminated and left by the side of the high way!
Favorite line: “I’m going to kill you slow cuz I’m pissed”
💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
The death rattle: (or my love to the evil streaks)
If you have never seen the Streaks live you are fucking blowing it!
Bass killer The Rev and Drummer “Too Fast” Jim are honestly the best live Rythem section’s I’ve ever seen. So tight, so dam punk rock locked in! Like Ramones locked in! “Too fast” and the “Rev” are theStreaks secret weapon, laying down a thick chunky canvas The rest of the undead geniuses can create on.
Guitarist John Kozik has one of my favorite guitar tones of all time. I simply love it! It has Perfect amount of surf, garage ,and punk, but a lil something hidden in those twangly notes.. Something a unique … something that makes his sonic goulash so spookily delicious! It’s not crazy to think that Ouija board enthusiast Kozik made an appointment with the darkness to be their sonic ambassador on now he’s guitar preaches the dark word every outing!
Justin and his farfisa brings out the popness of the compositions. Mr. Goodrich creates a bright light in the darkness keeping the evil lyrics and sinister sounds in a lane that doesn’t let anything stray from any pop sensibilities while still highlighting and enhancing bleak punk gloom.
Myra K-Rock is by far the most underrated, guitarist and songwriter in the New England music scean. I know better than anyone that those who dabble in darkness often get labeled as a novelty act or at the very least are not taken as seriously as a love song writers who’s sugar sweet jams don’t end with their suitors in the trunk of a car. Her vocals are a 80’s pop hug that easily transforms into a riot Girl uppercut! Wiedlin with a chainsaw Hanna with a puppy! wile vocal comparison to everyone from Pearson to Lewis are accurate it can’t be overstated There is no one in the mortuary that sounds like K-Rock and only few who come close to being able to pull off in her storytelling or hook creating.
Her turn of phrase and honest anger make every dark tale A beautiful contradiction. Completely relatable while never losing a sleazy Drive in aesthetic that makes her stand out from an army of songwriters in working in the multiple sub genres her and her incredible band dwell in! In the name of full discloser k-Rock is like a sister to me. One of my best friends, a business partner and band mate.
I have shared many an fall afternoon on my porch with The arev talking about Comics. So you can write all this off as the talk of a biased friend who is abusing his review space to put over his pals.
But I defy anyone who was in that rock club or anyone has seen them live or heard one of their incredible recordings to tell me about anything I said above is wrong. Go ahead .. I’ll wait.
