  • The good

  • This flick looks amazing. Every drop of rain every drop of rain every dimly lit room, every long shadow. If you think it looks good, it sounds even better.

    Echoey nursery rhymes, thunderous booms.

There is a Halloween party for a bunch of orphans used for both exposition and some bad ass imagery.

The cast definitely elevates this uneven whodunit.

    The bad

If You’re not a horror the number of Tried and true jump scares some of this will be scary. If you ARE a horror fan... well you’ve seen it all before, lots and lots of times.

The interrogations Wich were the Majority of the “action” was pretty lackluster and the giant betrayal of trust felt flat.

    The spooky

I can’t stop thinking of masked gondola pilots, pushing down, choppy Venice, canals towards a spooky castle. It still gives me chills.

    Favorite kill:

    Death by statue impalement

    Favorite scare:

A flooding basement full of the dolls of dead or pins under but the editing lighting and everything else sold a very tense chaotic situation.

    The Death Rattle:

A haunting in Venice is the story of peaks and valleys. PG-13 Teeny no er scares placed on a big budget. High art canvas.  The mystery itself has been lifted from the original so often it l lessen the surprise and drama. Certainly not a bad rainy day watch.
