INTERIM AEW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Jon Moxley
MOX has really impressed me as of late! His match with Willow spray and his match with Kylegyg
or Wiley we’re both bangers! That said with the original plan CM Punk versus Tana I think the Japanese legend is going to take this one! AEW HAS A lot of championship belts! If the intern AEW world heavyweight champion isn’t on every AEW show in between now and when and punk is healed up… WHO cares!!
With the addition of the all Atlantic belt you could legitimately have a title match main event for a month without even thinking about the world title Intrim or otherwise!
Now two things that affects my thesis is the amount of the AEW roster on the injured list. The other being the seemingly ever dwindling ratings (though by multiple accounts there was an up swing this week) TK May just need strong champion presents on television the next few weeks.
As compelling as my ability to talk myself out of this with real life facts is I’m going to die on this particular hill and steel pick The ACE!
My Pick: Hiroshi Tanahashi
* IWGP WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
Jay White (c) vs. Kazuchika Okada vs. Adam Cole vs. Hangman Page
First off I hope they work a good portion of this as a traditional “four corners match”, with tags and the whole 9 yards. Where are 4 of the top in ring performers on the planet one of which is arguably the absolute best, I would love to see them all wrestle each other a bit as opposed to a spot a crazy spot fest. They’ll have to do something to differentiate it from the other four corners match if one is going to be a non-stop kinetic move fast and one is going to be a more traditional wrestling match I’d prefer this one to be the wrestling match.. but who knows.
This is a pick em between two guys. Theoretically neither Okada or White need the belt going into the G1. “ switchblade” is probably a better story, especially since bullet club seems to of been taken off the afterthought pile and put back onto legitimate faction pile. I’m going to go with the evil influencer not just because It feels like a better story but because they seem to be hot potatoing the belt quite a bit since it’s inception. Wile good portion has been more by necessity then design is still not a good look for a title which was derived from easily the most prestigious Championship on Earth. The new matches and stability J White brains to the conversation makes him the appropriate choice for victory.
My Pick: Jay White
* AEW WOMEN’S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
Thunder Rosa (c) vs. Toni Storm.
Not a lot to say about this one. Any one who watched Thunder Rosa’s Ascension to The AEW women’s title can see something has been lost as a champion. I understand they wanted a woman’s match on the show but this sticks out like a sore thumb against the aesthetic of the rest of the card. The other deciding factor is TR is heading to Japan soon. Even with having two other Women’s titles vying for TV time I don’t know if this is The right time to ship the champ overseas.
And honestly I love thunder Rosa but for my money storm is the better in ring performer of the two… at least right this moment.
my pick: Tony Storm
* Bryan Danielson’s hand-picked choice vs. Zack Sabre Jr.
???? Mystery men normally win matches. ZSJR Is a top of the card performer in both the new Japan singles and tag divisions. I honestly think he would’ve beat the American Dragon. But I’m gonna gamble on this one..
My pic mystery man: ???!
Who I think it is…
At first I was positive it was going to be the ROH world champion Jonathan Grissm. But he has a match the native blood and guts.
Other interesting rumors are Timothy Thatcher
Chris hero
Shobata
Johnny Gargano
And William regal him self!
But I think only one person will not be let down
Who I think it is: Claudio Castagnola
* AEW Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks & El Phantasmo & vs. Darby Allin & Sting & i & Shingo Takagi
Another match bitten by the injury bug. But I don’t think the outcome makes sense any other way. Derby pins a buck in there is a
Instant viable Tag Team title match with Derby in Sting… BUUUT…
I think the young bucks need to win to look good for something that I think it’s gonna happen later…
My pick: bucks and Phantasmo
* IWGP UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP
Will Ospreay (c) vs. Orange Cassidy.
I’ve been watching Orange Casty for years he has much more under the hood than he has shown in AEW. In fact I think we’ve only seen about 30% of his in ring potential. With a dance partner like Willa spray this will tear the house down! Cassidy will be elevated in a incredible performance and a loss against one of the top five wrestlers on earth
My pick: will
* FOUR-WAY TO DETERMINE INAUGURAUL ALL-ATLANTIC CHAMPION
Pac vs. Miro vs. Clark Connorsvs. Malakai Black
Outside of Connors this is a Pickem. I feel like this match in this belt maybe smaller than what they should be doing with Miro.. my pick was Ishii but now that he’s hurt I’m going to go with
My pick: Black
* Eddie Kingston, Shota Umino, & Wheeler Yuta vs. Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara, & Minoru Suzuki
This will be fun.. I think the heels have to take it going into blood and guts though
Winner: Sazuki and JAS
* WINNER TAKES ALL MATCH FOR THE ROH AND IWGP TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS
FTR vs. Great-O-Khan & Jeff Cobb vs. Roppongi Vice
My pic without any hesitation is FTR! Me picking the young bucks earlier had more to do with this match then anything else. The box come out after the match and challenge FTR for an upcoming winner takes all!
With G1 on the horizon it doesn’t matter if the belts don’t show up in Japan very much. And I’m sure FTR could make it over for a title defense on the G1 finals!
My pick: FTR
THE BUY-IN:
* Swerve In Our Glory (Shane Strickland & Keith Lee) vs. El Desperado & Yoshinobu Kanemaru
This could really go either way I could see SIOG losing two propel their storyline to the next level..
But I think I’m still going to go with
My pick: Swerve In Our Glory
Max Caster & The Gunn Club vs. NJPW Dojo’s Kevin Knight & The DKC & Alex Coughlin & Yuya Uemura. This will be fun the LA dojo have been tearing it up in MultiMan matches lately..
But they lose most of the time! Unless this two is used to move a storyline along
My pick: Max Caster & The Gunn Club
The Factory (QT Marshall and Aaron Solo) vs. Bishamon (Hirooki Goto and Yoshi-Hashi)
I will be blown over with a feather if the chaos duo do not win this handle
My pick : Bishamon
