Night 3 July 18th, Yamagata
A Block
A Block Kaito Kiyomiya vs. Chase Owens
Uncle Dave stars: **3/4
Who I Picked : Kaito Kiyomiya
Who won : Kaito Kiyomiya
Kaito Kiyomiya : 0-0-2
Chase Owens 1-0-1
(good back-and-forth, Chase has some real good offense. The type of stuff that would do AA and beautiful Boby proud. Kevin kelley mentioned that he’s again and this match. Definitely seemed a bit sluggish because of it.)
B Block Great O-Khan vs. KENTA
Uncle Dave stars: **1/2
Who I Picked : Great O-Khan
Who won :
Great O-Khan: 2-0-0
KENTA: 0-0-2
(Good start for quickly that seems more outside the ring crowd, brawling shenanigans. Say what you want about early 2000s Kenta Vs now Kenta but there are a few guys that look as confident in their own in Ring persona as Kenta. Not many in new Japan, or anywhere else for that matter. GK looked to not be taking the heat very well. He looks upset not normal evil monster sort of way button. Big chap having a hard time moving around the humidity. I don’t think I like the 20 minute time limits. As opposed to short in the matches that could easily go 30 minutes they should shorten the masses. They don’t need to go 10. Like this one with a dumb old school ending. O-Kahn not happy.. has a minor break down. )
A Block Hikuleo vs. Gabe Kidd
Uncle Dave stars: **1/2
Who I Picked : Gabe Kidd
Who won : Gabe Kidd
Hikuleo 1-0-1
Gabe Kidd 1-0-1
(Kid attacked the giant Tongan at the entrance! Thankfully, starting things are fast and hot. This crowd brawling is considerably more spirited, then the last match. My pick’ems didn’t have kid doing very well but after seeing him in this new angry guy persona, I hope I’m wrong. I’m not a big fan of furniture building. I think it takes the momentum away from the borrowing gade looks so organic and Rattle in his ability to make Mayham, he should never stop. I don’t know where the rest was during all this nonsense, but he wasn’t counting anyone out. There was a botched spot which brings us more gross head and neck truma. Sort of flat ending. )
B Block Taichi vs. Tanga Loa
Uncle Dave stars: ****
Who I Picked : Taichi
Who won : Taichi
Taichi 0-0-2
Tanga Loa 1-0-0
(this match was a pleasant surprise very much a new Japan style Hoss fight!
Commentator kevin, Kelly did a really good job of putting over in describing tonga’s Knee Troubles! It’s adding some awesome drama to his matches. Injury or not Tl looks great! Dangerous T is great !! This may be the best Tanga Loa single match I’ve ever seen. )
A Block Ren Narita vs. Yota Tsuji
Uncle Dave stars: ****
Who I Picked : Yota Tsuji
Who won : draw!
Yota Tsuji 1-1-0
Ren Narita 0-2-0
(chase Owens has join commentatorS booth. I was excited to hear what he added. And for the most part I was pleased. Tsuji looked impressive on the mat with Narita. Another great match in story in this “ three musketeers” rivalry! A second draw!)
B Block YOSHI-HASHI vs. Will Ospreay
Uncle Dave stars: ****1/4
Who I Picked : YOSHI-HASHI
Who won : Will Ospreay
YOSHI-HASHI 1-0-1
Will Ospreay 1-0-1
A Block SANADA vs. Shota Umino
Uncle Dave stars: ****
Who I Picked : SANADA
Who won : SANADA
SANADA 0-0-2
Shota Umino 0-1–0
(let’s started off really fast! But then kind of slowed down again. Shota (much like the other two graduated Young Lions in this block) looks experienced beyond his years. Getting a lot out of a arm ringer with an assist by Kevin Kelly, talking about the champs past nerve injury. Bravo to everyone involved.
B Block Kazuchika Okay vs. El Phantasmo
Uncle Dave stars: ****1/2
Who I Picked : Kazuchika Okada
Who won : Okada
(really good match ELP fight from under until 3/4 through where he started to take the lead. He hit him with everything but just like that the rain maker does what he does)
A Block
Kaito Kiyomiya : 0-0-2
Chase Owens 1-0-1
Hikuleo 1-0-1
Gabe Kidd 1-0-1
Yota Tsuji 1-1-0
Ren Narita 0-2-0
B Block
YOSHI-HASHI 1-0-1
Will Ospreay 1-0-1
Taichi 0-0-2
Tanga Loa 1-0-0
Great O-Khan: 2-0-0
KENTA: 0-0-2
My points this round : 5
